The first Soviet originally designed large-series car GAZ-20M Pobeda (Victory) had a advanced design and was the first Soviet car with a unitized body and the first wingless serial production car in the world. Beginning in 1946, over 235,000 GAZ-20M cars rolled off the assembly line during 12.5 years of production.
The Pobeda passenger car received excellent references worldwide. It was exported not only to the countries of Easten Europe but to some West European markets as well. The Warsaw FSO plant in Poland produced the Varshava car under the Soviet license for GAZ-20M for a total of 23 years.
